NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
