Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While wagering on online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
