No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he liked betting on various card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really aggressive in the above-mentioned card games while competing against his father. After graduating from secondary school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a bit and moved away to New York City to participate in some serious chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were tough as he played many hours and lose most times. He made some additional money by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he could improve his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to acquire more sleep and focus attention even more on poker.
The definite improvement in his abilities began when he started betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest gamblers would frequently play against each other. Howard had access into several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard would sharpen his logical thinking skills. Howard used these strategic ideas in the game of No-Limit holdem.
He also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was a superb student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the correct choice. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. She is one of the strongest female players the poker arena today. Howard moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and played money games for the subsequent 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
