No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
